The Welsh Assembly Government has just announced that the M4 motorway is to become a hydrogen superhighway provided with hydrogen refuelling stations for hydrogen powered vehicles and battery charging stations for electric vehicles.
Have they considered where all the additional electricity is going to come from to produce the hydrogen and to charge the batteries?
The UK as a whole is already heading for an energy crisis by the middle of this decade due to the failure to invest in sufficient new generating capacity to replace the ageing coal and nuclear power stations that are reaching the end of their design lives. This additional demand from the hydrogen superhighway will only make matters worse.
