I recently looked at new domestic gas and electric fires, the majority of these have the controls underneath – which means kneeling or bending almost to floor level; the salesmen at two of the stores - both men on their thirties - found it strange that anyone should want the controls to be accessible.
Some of the electric fires seemed to think that they were TV screens, while the B&Q customer advisor assured me that the unflued catalytic type gas fires produced no emissions at all; so perhaps my car doesn’t need an exhaust pipe.
