Factory brings jobs hope to Wales
A major international investment could bring 600 jobs to the motor industry in South Wales.
Japanese firm Toyoda Gosei is planning to open a car parts plant in Swansea, which could provide one of the biggest investments in Wales for years.
The news comes shortly after German manufacturer Bosch announced it was closing an alternator plant near Cardiff. Production will be moving to Hungary with 900 jobs lost.
It is understood that Toyoda Gosei is planning to occupy the former Valeo car components plant in Gorseinon, Swansea, where more than 300 jobs were lost when it closed in 2001.
The 40-acre site has a 214,000 sq ft manufacturing facility, which Toyoda Gosei is expected to occupy.
It is hoped that the new plant will provide work for those engineers who lost their jobs at Bosch.
The Welsh Assembly refused to comment after media reports that its inward agency, International Business Wales, has been negotiating with Toyoda Gosei.
